Freiberg Zoo

Freiberg Zoo is owned by Freiberg City and maintained by an association called Freiberger Tierpark e.V. since October 30, 2015. It aims to make the zoo more family-friendly and the Entrance free. The zoo cares for a host of cute and interesting animals such as Alpakas, Deers, Birds, Donkeys, Sheep, Wild Boars, Rabits and many more. It's open from 9AM to 6PM during Summer (April-October) and 9AM-3:30 PM during Winter (November-March) except on Mondays.

Here is a picture of the Deer near the North East Entrance. The Buck seemed to be checking the Albino one which chose to lay down after a full meal.

The same was true for the Sheep on the other fence which seemed to enjoy the company of friends after breakfast.

While others were still resting the donkeys here along with the other sheep are up on their feet. The donkey in the middle even gazed towards the camera for a perfect shot.

The ducks here were definitely still sleeping ducking their heads inside their fluffy shoulders. Must have been a great duck night party to be still dozing off at 11AM.

The Alpakas are a recent addition to the zoo made possible through a generous donation. Thank you very much ☺️. The Alpakas are very cute and fluffy. They are near the North West and East Entrance.

The zoo is located at Chemnitzer Straße 8T 09599 Freiberg and is a few minutes away from major city attractions such as Johannisbad and the UNESCO renowned Old City Freiberg. It offers ample parking space and has a Bus Stop called Goethestr/Tierpark in front of the North East Entrance. Bus C Busbahnhof passes here every hour and takes around 25 minutes to reach from the main Train Station Freiberg (Sachs).

The pin shows where the Bus Stop is located.

It will take around 5 Minutes by car from Freiberg Main Train Station, around 26 minutes by Bus,
or a 21 Minute Walk.

This is a sample trip Planner from DB App or Deutsche Bahn App. If you are subscribed to the €49 Euro Monthly ticket then you can take as many trips as you'd like. The Day ticket which is valid from purchase date until 4 am the next day costs €5.40 while a one way pass costs €2.70.

There's an ice cream station located near the North Entrance and a small playground with swings near the North East Side. A bakeshop called Bäckerei Wolf is also nearby along Chemnitzer Straße which is just a few minutes away from the Parking Space at the North Entrance. The chocolate dipped Florentine cookie there is a must try. Nearby is Vivaldi which serve Indian Cuisine when you take the North West Side Exit beside Johannisbad. Just beyond is Albert Park which has a beautiful fountain and a medieval staircase.

If you're looking to spend quality time with family and friends here in Freiberg then visiting the Freiberg Zoo is definitely worth a try.
