Frozen Waterfall in January

Do you want to see a frozen Waterfall? Then you're in the right place. Just around 1 hr away from Freiberg is a local favorite, the Blauenthaler Wasserfall. It's open to the public and with a beautiful though very cold Sunday, we strapped on our sturdy winter boots to explore it.

It's so solid that someone climbed up at the top. There are warning posts that it could be fatal so it's better to just watch and explore unless you're an experienced daredevil or someome who tries to rescue an unlucky one.

We explored the surroundings a little bit more before lunch. The snow really makes the place mesmerizing. You can lay on the snow and make a snow angel or listen to the calming sound of a river nearby.

We decided to have lunch at Gasthaus Talsperre, a local favorite restaurant and hotel. It's good practice to reserve seats as we were able to avoid waiting like other diners who didn't.

Gasthaus Talsperre is located near a cliff and has a grand view of the surrounding mountains. Indoors is mostly out of wood with Antler horns decor and colorful Garlands making your dining experience cozy and entertaining.

Food was delicious and service was fast plus I got a free lunch courtesy of Grandma. She said we should eat proper food on Sundays and made sure I ate well. Thanks Grandma ☺️

Next we drove to the German Space Exhibition Center located in Morgenröthe-Rautenkranz where Dr. Sigmund Jähn, a famous German Astronaut was born. He's so multitalented, he even flew a fighter jet MiG21 F13.

There were Space Suits, a Moon Rover, replicas of Space Rockets and Satellites, interactive displays, mini theaters and much more. You can even try Space Food like freeze dried ice cream and strawberries similar to what Astronauts eat. There's a wide range of items to choose from in their space store which also grant you entrance to the displays for a fee. I got mine for free courtesy of dad. Thanks Dad 👍.

Whenever I see stars, I am reminded of how much more we haven't explored and things we have yet to learn. Will we ever get the chance to visit another planet and terraform it? Someday soon.
